Thanks to outstanding sunshine, spectators enjoyed an excellent schedule of racing that was largely uninterrupted. The locals thought 2016 was the best for weather since 2008.

Already, ferry tickets have almost gone for 2017 and here’s our handy guide to flying over.

Getting around the island can be difficult while the races are on. In-between races, the roads only open for a limited period of time. Buses aren’t particularly regular – circumnavigating the main towns of the island between once and twice per hour. The bus schedule isn’t particularly strict over the TT; so don’t be surprised if you’re waiting around a while. Taxis are better options on a Sunday.

Finally, it might be obvious, but if you have the time and money you really should bite the bullet and ride over. You won’t regret it!

Where to watch the Isle of Man TT?

The best answer to this question entirely depends on what you want from the races. If you’re there to see fast action, get up towards the mountain section or Conker Fields, where the bikes scream by at silly speeds.

If you’re looking to feel the buzz of the crowds and the hustle and bustle of the pit lanes, it’s best to head to Douglas and take a wander through the paddocks, start/finish area and the grandstand.

Or alternatively, if you’re looking to sit down with a pint or two while the bikes go by, one of the many pubs with pop-up scaffolding stands might take your fancy, such as The Swan in Parliament Square, Ramsey.
